Friends from Netherlands embassy re - sent call for entry for Netherlands festival of independent animated movies which will be held from 5. - 9. 11. 2008 in Utrecht. Deadline is 15. july. All additional informations are on www.haff.nl.

-10.7.07: WINNERS
Among video debutantes the award of 300 eur goes to Stanka Gjurić from Zagreb for her video Sleepin and Dreaming. Special award ( the golden rat ) goes to Jihyun Ahn for video Their Circumstances, very unusual video animation. Jan Hakon Erichsen has won the award for one minute video, with his film Falling Down. In section, video filmed by mobilephone and award of 500 eur goes to Amir Muratovič for video Tell me, what you see?. The winner in section Anythig goes is Tomasz Plackowski from Poland with his video Anachrom. The special award or Golden Rat in this section goes to the group from Germany, Sound Nomads, for three videos of their instalations. For those who were not in Celje for the closing ceremony - all awards will be sent to you!
-9.7.07: The Golden rats have left Celje to see the wide wide world. Some of them were taken away, some of them were let loose and some are travelling to meet their owners.
-6.7.07: All information and materials are available at info center at Cyber cafe Stane every day during festival from 10 am to 8 pm. On Saturday at 8 pm before the concert, the info point will move to Stari Grad.

-5.7.07: You can get all of the informations about video festival (also the catalouges) at info center at Cyber cafe Stane (Stanetova 15, beside Metropol). It will be open every day during the festival. Authors of videos have 50 % discount at buying the tickets for Laibach concert. For authors and guests of video festival have free entrance for Zlatko Kaučič concert.

-3.7.07: Two about guests of festival: SMK will roll Laibach connected videos in Metropol in saturday, 7.7., and after the projections DJ Edenon will be playing music in the lobby of Metropol. On sunday, 8.7., the editorial team of newly founded magazine KINO! / CINEMA! will present their first issue, and the projection of the videofilm We'll fight against them will be held afterwards. Authors Nik Jeffs and Andrej Pavlisic will be present at projection.
-2.7.07: Before the festival begins, another opening: NIk Jarh's photo exhibition, Golden Rat River, will be held in Internet kavarna Stane on thursday, 5.7, at 19:00. Nik will be making photos of festival throughout all festival.
-26.6.07: There is still time to enter yourselfe on workshop during the festival.Workaholics will meet on friday 6.7., at 10 am in Celje youth center, their job will be making of video, wich will be shown on the closenig ceremony of video festival.
-26.6.07: On friday, 29.6., at 11 am the press conference about festival, will be held at cinema Metropol.
-22.6.07: Timetable of the festival is coming together with high speed and every part is important for greater whole. Parts: videos by sections, videos from Breirut, selection of works of ALU students, Bolgarian video, non-selected vides, artist in focus-Miha Vipotnik, workshop, photograph exhibition, concerts and maybe a part still in the air!
-8.6.2007: We have reached our deadline! 120 videos from all around the world are here – Spain, New Zealand, Germany, USA, Croatia, Sweden, Finland, Israel, Austria, Serbia, Macedonia, Italy, Neatherlands, Poland, UK, Canada, Portugal and last but not least Slovenija.
-28.5.2007: Videorats are proud to announce the first concert of the festival: Saturday, 7.7.07, at 21:21 concert of the group Laibach on Stari Grad. A spectaculare performence of one of the most recognizable Slovenian music groups! Laibach were in Celje just before their American tour in 2004 and now they are back to promote their new album VOLK.

We changed sheep into the rats. It's certainly all about fine skin.

Circumstances in video art are like this: lonely islands of artists that don't receive enough of feedback for their work (through lack of video institutions or their financial problems, lack of magazines that would rewiew videos and projects…); because of the nature of reproduction of videos and quantity of “originals” the existence (and price) is low.
So we can also in Slovenia (if not elsewhere in Europe) offer video festival that would crave for quality of selection and quality of discurse. For artists, for us, who gain through their work, for possibility of existence of professionals and all others, grabbed into video through You Tube – with Video festival that becomes an instituion.
Because we cannot repair what's been done, we can at least sail late but sail with knowledge that's gathered through other European and world Video festivals.
